Join our first aid class designed specifically for outdoor adventurers!

When things go sideways in the backcountry, you might be the only help around. This comprehensive, hands-on course will give you the skills, confidence, and mindset to manage injuries and medical emergencies when you're hours—or even days—from professional care. Whether you’re leading group trips, hiking solo, or just want to be more prepared on your weekend adventures, Wilderness First Aid training gives you the tools to respond effectively and stay calm under pressure. 🛠️ What You’ll Learn This course isn’t just lectures and PowerPoints. It’s packed with real-world practice and interactive scenarios designed to get your brain thinking and your hands moving. Here’s just some of what you’ll walk away knowing how to do: Stop life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, tourniquets, and improvisation Administer an EpiPen for severe allergic reactions Check and manage ABCs: Airway, Breathing, and Circulation Splint sprains and fractures with what you’ve got in your pack Recognize and treat dehydration, heat illness, hypothermia, altitude sickness, and more Build and use a basic first aid kit tailored to your style of adventure Decide when and how to evacuate someone from the backcountry safely You’ll also gain skills in communication, group management, and patient care that apply just as much in a canyon or on a snowy trail as they do on a remote forest road. 🧭 Who This Class Is For This course is ideal for: Hikers, climbers, paddlers, and backpackers Outdoor guides and trip leaders Camp staff, educators, and field researchers Parents of adventurous kids Literally anyone who spends time outside No prior medical experience required. Just come ready to learn, move, and maybe get a little dirt on your pants. 🏕️ What to Expect We’ll spend time both indoors and out, working through scenarios and skill stations. Expect to kneel, wrap, splint, assess, and treat—over and over until it clicks. Let’s be real: Accidents happen, even to the most experienced among us. Being prepared isn’t just smart—it’s empowering. Let us teach you how to stay calm, take action, and maybe even save a life.

What to Bring
Getting prepared for a first aid class (especially in an outdoor or wilderness setting) makes the whole experience smoother and way more engaging.
Getting prepared for a first aid class (especially in an outdoor or wilderness setting) makes the whole experience smoother and way more engaging.

1. Notebook + Pen or Pencil

  • For jotting down tips, scenarios, and skills. A waterproof notebook is a bonus for outdoor use.

2. Water Bottle + Snacks

  • Stay hydrated and fueled—this is hands-on and can be physically active at times.

3. Clothing for Simulations

  • Wear layers you can move around in and don’t mind getting dirty. Think: "crawling-around-on-the-ground" clothes.
  • Long pants and closed-toe shoes are best.

4. Warm Layers / Rain Gear (if outdoors)

  • Be ready for the elements. We’ll be outside practicing real-life scenarios, rain or shine.

5. Camping Pad or Blanket

  • For kneeling, lying down, or comfort during floor-based simulations.

6. Small Daypack or Backpack

  • We’ll use this to simulate treating injuries with the gear you’d likely have on the trail.

7. Sunglasses + Sunscreen

  • If we’re outside, we’re protecting ourselves just like we would in the backcountry.

8. Personal First Aid Kit (optional but encouraged)

  • Bring your own so you can get familiar with what you carry and what you might be missing.

9. Camp Chair or Something to Sit On

  • For breaks, discussions, and lunch.

10. Mask / Bandana (for practicing with respiratory issues or creating slings/tourniquets)

  • Good for simulations and for layering into improvised first aid.

11. Positive Attitude + Willingness to Get Involved

  • You’ll be playing the role of both rescuer and patient. It’s half skills, half improv, and 100% useful.

I left feeling so inspired and empowered by the films & all the vendors. I got the coolest handmade bike bag from a local artist and the hot bar was SO GOOD.
